In the Variations on a Theme Competition, teams of 4 members present a programme of prose and poetry readings based on the given theme. The team must use a minimum of 6 and a maximum of 9 separate pieces within a time of between 12 and 15 minutes. At least one piece must be in verse and one piece must use all four voices in harmony. It is competed for by Federations in the north and south of Scotland in alternate years. The eligible Federations hold their own competitions to decide which team(s) go forward to the national final.
Fife Federation will host the 2012 Variations on a Theme Competition on Saturday, 10 November at Dunfermline High School, and is open to federations in the North.
