Angus Federation offers a great variety of activities, as well as the regular monthly meetings within the 39 Institutes.
Many members take part in the various competitions at Federation level - including Curling , Bowling (indoor and outdoor) , and Golf ; with winning individuals/teams going forward to represent Angus in the National Finals organised by Headquarters and the host Federation.
Within Angus itself we have a fun sports competition every autumn - our very own 'Ruralympics'. No-one needs to be an Olympian to enter - all are welcome, it really is a fun event! Depending on the membership level, we sometimes have a Teenagers' Sports Competition.
Some years there are competitions for Choirs , Light Entertainment , Drama and occasionally Country Dancing . We also have good support for our Matter of Opinion and Variations on a Theme competitions. Many members also enjoy the Scottish Country Dance Weekend School which is now an annual event.
We have a very active Handcrafts & Housewives Guild offering a selection of speakers/demonstrators on crafts and cookery, as well as one/two-day schools giving members an opportunity to learn some new skills, and if desired, try for Proficiency Tests at some later date. (These are optional).
Several Institutes have a Concert Party which entertains other WRIs, and occasionally other organisations.
One of our main annual events is the Angus Federation Show of Crafts & Produce - usually staged each March, when we have anything from 1500 entries in foods/crafts, something well worth seeing (and taking part in).
Each summer HQ organises a Summer School - this is really worth trying! A great variety of classes have been offered over the years - also venues. This is a grand way of meeting members from all over Scotland as well as acquiring knowledge.
All of these things are on offer - not to mention friendship, fun, outings, crafts, local information/community involvement, education, delectable eats, and lots more!
