SWRI Dumfriesshire Federation

Dumfriesshire Federation covers an area from Sanquhar in the north to Gretna in the south, and from Dumfries to Langholm in the east. The Federation consists of 46 Institutes, split up into six Groups, and membership is approximately 1400. Each of the Groups is conducted in the same way as the Federation, with Chairman and Office Bearers and, besides Headquarters and Federation sponsored classes, they hold their own classes, shows and competitions. Sporting activities include outdoor bowling, stadium bowling, carpet bowling, short mat bowling, curling and golf. Institutes meet monthly, usually from September to May, with outings in June. These meetings can consist of talks, demonstrations, slide shows, aerobics and also visits to the theatre, local landmarks, local businesses, etc. A warm welcome is assured to anyone who would like to attend one of the monthly meetings.
