Scottish Home & Country - Contributors' Notes

Type of Article

We accept articles on a variety of subjects. Our readers enjoy features on crafts, personal histories, social history, health, travel, cookery, general women's interests, etc. Instructional craft articles are also welcome but must include clear illustrations. We do not accept articles on religion or party politics.

Length

Between 500 and 1,000 words, typed and double spaced. All submissions must be accompanied by a stamped-addressed envelope (SAE), otherwise they cannot be returned. Finished copy must be submitted, not story ideas.

Photographs

Articles accompanied by photographs or illustrations have an advantage. Photographs of any relevant events/activities are always of interest. All photographs supplied on disk must have a resolution of 300 dpi.

Copy Deadlines

Copy should be submitted around 4 weeks before publication date, e.g. deadline for December issue copy is 26 October, deadline for January issue copy is 26 November.

Material submitted should be original, not previously published elsewhere. Although great care is taken with all material submitted to us, neither Scottish Home & Country nor its printers are responsible for any loss or damage which may occur.

The best way to judge whether an article may be suitable is to send for a copy of SH&C and look at its content and style. You can buy it from the Edinburgh office (address below) for £1.00 or write, enclosing £1.35 as a cheque or postal order made out to Scottish Home and Country, and we will send you a copy.

Please note that SWRI members are not normally paid for submissions.
